Why Project Praxis?

Our Mission

English 12A Social Justice at Forgotten Harvest Farm 2022.jpg

The stakes for public education have never been higher. Students, and their parents, are looking for the certainty that knowledge and skills gained in school will lead to secure and happy lives. But the yearning for certainty has led to school becoming places of transaction, not transformation. In place of exploration, many students feel pressure to pursue grades and degrees that will get them higher pay and higher status in life. How can schools become places where academic achievement occurs as well as human flourishing? Students have to be given pathways for growth and opportunities to be seen, known, and heard. Project Praxis wants to work with schools, teachers and district administrators to help them create spaces where students can discover who they are and what they can contribute to the world
